A massive well done to all in the parish and those beyond who have helped and supported our recent New Pipe Organ Appeal. It has been a fantastic success and we have reached the £20,000 target far sooner than we had expected. From Fred’s quizzes, the grand draw, festival weekends and most importantly individual gifts from friends and charities the appeal has been not only a success but a great community outreach opportunity. Our family Weekend saw many people from our worship community; ecumenical links and the wider community unite in worship and fellowship. We has a great jazz nigh with hog roast and the Garden party with Charity market was a roaring success with over 200 having a sumptuous afternoon tea! (Phew Janet, Hazel, Joanna and the team worked hard, 200 in two hours!) The Music Weekend was equally rewarding and our special thanks go to the Royal Northern College of Music, for the very fine music they delivered and the effort they put into helping us organise such a big event. Our hearty thanks also go to the Choir of St Oswald’s at nearby Warton who sang beautifully for our Festival Evensong. A hearty supper of stews and homemade desserts followed, and was very well received. Early in 2015 a special plaque will be attached to the fine new organ to commemorate those who have given so generously to the success of this appeal. And watch this space for more musical events, there are things in the ‘pipe-line’ so to speak!!
