Sunday 5th June 2016
Last Week being half term was a quiet one for our church halls and an opportunity for routine maintenance and deep cleaning. Once again our thanks go to Alan and Sheila who have spent many hours here maintaining the high standards of our wonderful complex. Thank you from us all.
Coffee Morning with Thorpe View this Friday 10am-12noon. If you can help with brewing up or bake a cake please see Janet or Fr Damian. Do come along, bring friends and support this community event. Thanks.
Bingo dates include 25th June and 30th July. Please support this event that raises money for us and Poppy Scatter. Flyers are available at the back of church to share
Friends of St Francis Group meets this Monday 6th June at 7pm. We will welcome Canon Brenda Harding who will be talking about icons. Please see David Wilde for info.
Lunch Club meets next on 16th at 12noon for worship followed by a meal in the vestry.
Ecumenical Worship our next join service with local churches is here at the Ascension on Sunday 19th June 6.30pm.
Craft Club meets in June on the following Monday evenings at 7pm- 13th, 27th. Many of the group are working on items to sell over the festival weekend. If you have a hand crafted item that might go on our stall please let Janet Diamond know. Thanks.
Cleaner Required Alan Forshaw is looking to fill a vacancy we have for a paid cleaner. 2hrs per day (early morning) Monday to Friday. If you know of anyone who might be interested please speak to Alan or Sheila or ring them on 419174.
Festival News and Help Needed
Flyers and Posters a big thank you to those who have helped with this, the vast majority have gone. Great! There are still a couple of roads to do, so please help out if you can.
Sponsorship Can you support the festival by sponsoring a floral display? We are asking for a minimum donation of £10. This could be donated in memory of a loved one or a thanksgiving for a special event. Your name and dedication will go in the festival brochure and next to the arrangement you have sponsored. Please see info and envelopes on the table near the font.
Hat Competition Following the great success and fun of last year’s competition this year were doing it again, so get creating. The theme is food ‘Carmen Miranda’ style. The bigger and more colourful the better! Prizes to be won!
Stewards Rota John Farling is compiling a rota of folk to take money on the door and welcome visitors, a very important task giving people a warm Christian welcome to our lovely church. Please see John if you can offer an hour or two over the weekend to do this.
Jams and Chutneys Fr Damian is making chutney to sell over the weekend. Could anyone else make some make some jam or chutney to sell? Please let him know.
